The Jordan Hotels Association organized a specialized training workshop entitled “Waste Management,” presented by Engineer Omaima Majzoub, with the participation of a number of employees and representatives from four- and five-star hotels in the capital, Amman, on 20/05/2026. The workshop aimed to enhance environmental awareness and improve the efficiency of employees working in the hotel sector regarding best practices for waste management and handling in accordance with modern standards.

The workshop covered several important topics, most notably waste segregation methods and waste handling mechanisms within hotel establishments, in addition to safe disposal practices for food waste and ways to reduce food wastage. It also included an explanation of proper temporary waste storage methods, as well as waste transportation and disposal procedures that ensure the protection of public health and the environment.

The workshop further focused on the importance of implementing environmental sustainability concepts within hotels and highlighted the role of employees in reducing the environmental impact resulting from daily operational activities. In addition, a number of modern practices that contribute to recycling efforts and waste reduction were presented.

The Jordan Hotels Association reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the implementation of specialized training programs and workshops that support environmental sustainability concepts and enhance the efficiency of employees in the hotel sector, in a manner that improves service quality while preserving the environment in line with the best practices adopted within the tourism industry.
