Tourism and Heritage Committee of the Jordanian Senate, headed by the Senator Abdul-Hakim Mahmoud Al-Hindi, visited the Jordan Hotels Association on Thursday 15th of February. in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Mr. Emad Hijazin, deputy director of Jordan Tourism Board Mr. Wael al-Rusan, the Senators his excellency Salim Khair, his excellency Mohammed Al-azaida, her excellency Dr. Mahasen Jagub, his excellency Fadel al-Hammoud, his excellency Khair-aldeen Hakooz, his excellency Abdallah Matar, her excellency Mayson Al-Otoum, in addition to board members of Jordan Hotels Association. His excellency Mr. Abdul-Hakeem Al-Hindi pointed out that this visit came to see the reality of the association’s work and the tasks it performs, which are concerned with cooperation and coordination with the ministry and other departments, institutions and tourist associations specialized in all fields related to tourism work and its development, in order to continue its development, especially that this sector represents an essential resource of The Jordanian economy. For his part Mr. Emad Hijazin explained the role played by the ministry through networking with all official and unofficial tourism sectors, pointing to the decent development of this sector through the quality of services provided and their prices compared to neighboring countries, noting the amendments to the tourism law in order to adopt the tourism sector in the Economic Modernisation Vision, and as a decision to facilitate procedures for the investor. In turn Mr. Hussein Hilalat pointed to the high overall percentages in the tourism development, where we have 631 Hotel establishment and twenty two thousands employees of the hotels and the investment volume has reached nearly 20 billion Jordanian dinars, explaining that the vision of the association comes in leadership in the development of the hotel sector and improve the level of the service. The Senators pointed out that Jordan is one of the most important religious and historical tourist attractions, and has specifications that make it a destination for tourists and visitors from all over the world throughout the year, pointing to the need to provide the best services to tourists and improve the infrastructure of tourist facilities.
