Representing the Jordan Hotels Association Mr. Taye Soufan – Treasurer and a board member of the Association, participated in a specialized workshop on assessing corruption risks in Jordan’s tourism sector. The workshop was organized by the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission in cooperation with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as part of national efforts aimed at strengthening integrity and transparency frameworks and supporting a preventive approach in economically impactful sectors.
The workshop focused on diagnosing and analyzing potential corruption risks in the tourism sector, identifying areas of vulnerability, reviewing international best practices in governance and transparency, and developing effective preventive measures to enhance the business and tourism investment environment. These efforts aim to improve the sector’s competitiveness and support the national economy. The workshop targeted officials and administrative staff from both the public and private sectors, members of professional associations, and specialists in integrity and oversight, with the goal of raising awareness and building capacities in corruption prevention.
In this context, Tayeh Soufan explained that the Association’s participation in the workshop aligns with its institutional role in representing the hotel sector and strengthening partnerships with relevant stakeholders, in addition to contributing to the support of policies and procedures that entrench the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability in line with internationally recognized best practices.
This workshop is part of a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing integrity and transparency across economic sectors, thereby contributing to the development of the tourism sector and improving its investment climate. The outcomes emphasized the importance of activating preventive measures and sound governance within tourism institutions, strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors, and promoting a culture of transparency and accountability among sector professionals.
