As part of its efforts to enhance environmental sustainability in the hotel sector, the Jordan Hotels Association (JHA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS). The agreement aims to raise environmental awareness among member hotels and encourage them to adopt eco-friendly practices in line with international standards.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Hussein Al-Helalat, Deputy Chairman of the Jordan Hotels Association, and Mr. Khaled Al-Kurdi, Secretary and Acting Executive Director of the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan.

This partnership supports Jordanian hotels in obtaining the “Green Key” certification, an internationally recognized eco-label that promotes environmental sustainability in the tourism sector. The certification enhances global marketing opportunities and online promotion for certified hotels.

Under the agreement, both parties will collaborate to organize lectures and training courses for member hotels interested in obtaining the “Green Key” certification. Additionally, they will implement awareness programs highlighting the importance of sustainable environmental practices in the hotel industry. The initiative will also assist hotels in meeting the required certification standards, thereby improving resource efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing economic opportunities for Jordanian hotels.

The Jordan Hotels Association emphasizes the significance of this collaboration in achieving sustainable development and positioning Jordan as a leading tourist destination committed to global environmental standards, This initiative is expected to positively impact the hotel sector and the national economy as a whole.
