Umm Qais
Art Destination
The ancient Greco-Roman city of Gadara (Umm Qais), part of the Decapolis, holds a significant place among Jordan’s archaeological treasures. Perched on a plateau in the northeastern region, it commands stunning views of the Jordan Valley, Tiberius Lake, and the Yarmouk River. Located approximately 115 km from Amman, this historical site was strategically positioned at the crossroads of trade routes, linking Palestine and Syria as well as coastal areas with the central and eastern uplands.
