Minister of Culture Mr. Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh Convenes First 2025 Meeting of the Cultural and Artistic Movement Support Fund Board

The Minister of Culture, His Excellency Mr. Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cultural and Artistic Movement Support Fund, convened a meeting of the Fund’s Board on Thursday 15th of May,2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters. According to an official press release issued by the Ministry, the Board includes in its membership Dr. Labeeb Al-Khudra, Dr. Maysoun Al-Atoom, Eng. AbdulHakim Al-Hindi, Dr. Ali Yaghi, Dr. Fouad Al-Khasawneh, and visual artist Suheil Baqaeen.

In this first meeting of the year, Minister Al-Rawashdeh emphasized the significance of the Fund’s objectives, which focus on supporting creative, innovative, and productive projects initiated by talented youth across various cultural and artistic fields.

He stressed that culture is inherently a societal issue and serves as a vital contributor to economic production, acting as a driving force behind productive sectors. Culture, he added, can offer young people dignified livelihoods. He highlighted the Ministry’s wide-ranging efforts in this domain and underscored that the Fund should be prioritized as a key avenue for achievement and as an extension and complement to the Ministry’s nationwide projects.

Minister Al-Rawashdeh also affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to a collaborative approach, working alongside government ministries, academic institutions, media organizations, cultural bodies, and civil society institutions to shape the national cultural discourse and promote Jordanian creativity. He underlined that culture is a major national priority, asserting that there is no separation between cultural development and economic modernization.

He pointed out the need for the Fund to establish clear, transparent, and well-governed standards for supporting projects. He further highlighted the duties and authorities of the Board, and discussed the Fund’s sources of revenue, which include allocations from the state budget, grants, donations, endowments, returns from Fund investments, and income from the sale of books, magazines, and resources transferred to the Fund upon the dissolution of cultural entities.

The Board discussed outlining a strategic spending plan to support the cultural and artistic movement across a wide range of fields, including television drama, visual and performing arts, documentary films and series, cultural publishing, and media content. The plan also encompasses support for cultural and artistic entrepreneurship, music, singing, and chanting, as well as the development of cultural industries and multidisciplinary artistic works. Additionally, it includes projects aimed at preserving and reviving heritage, promoting the history, appreciation, and understanding of culture and the arts, and enhancing infrastructure for cultural development.

During the meeting, Dr. Labeeb Al-Khudra was elected as Vice Chairman of the Board. Board members also proposed establishing priorities for projects that offer tangible societal benefit and reinforce national cultural values.

It is worth noting that the Cultural and Artistic Movement Support Fund was established within the Ministry of Culture pursuant to Article 6(a) of the Culture Care Law No. (36) of 2006, and in accordance with Regulation No. (111) of 2008 on the Cultural and Artistic Movement Support Fund and its amendments, the most recent of which was issued in 2021.
