The Jordan Hotels Association held a short training course on Monday, June 29, 2026, in Petra for hotel employees, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of proper waste management and promoting the implementation of environmental best practices within hotel establishments. The course sought to support environmental protection while enhancing the quality of tourism services.
The training was delivered by Engineer Omaima Majzoub, who covered several key topics, including effective waste management practices in hotels, strategies for reducing waste generation through responsible resource consumption, and proper waste segregation, handling, and disposal in accordance with approved environmental standards.
The course also highlighted the importance of reusing and recycling materials, maximizing the value of recyclable waste to achieve both environmental and economic benefits, and adopting sustainable practices that hotels can implement to minimize the environmental impact of their daily operations.
The training featured active participation from attendees, who exchanged experiences and discussed the main challenges facing hotels in the field of waste management. Practical solutions were also presented to help improve environmental performance and strengthen the culture of sustainability across the hospitality sector.
This training course forms part of the Jordan Hotels Association’s ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness and encourage hotel establishments to adopt responsible practices that contribute to protecting natural resources and preserving the beauty of Petra. These efforts ultimately enhance the quality and long-term sustainability of Jordan’s tourism product.
