Cairo - Egypt
A delegation from the Jordan Hotels Association and the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association has concluded a working visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, which included meetings and joint discussions with tourism offices and major investment groups, including Al-Majid Investment Group. The visit aimed to explore opportunities for tourism cooperation and investment, exchange expertise and experiences, and strengthen public-private partnerships.
The Chairman of the Jordan Hotels Association, Mr. Hussein Hilalat, emphasized that the next phase requires moving beyond traditional meetings towards actionable investment partnerships. He highlighted the importance of drawing on Egypt’s experience in developing tourism projects, attracting investment, and maximizing the sector’s economic returns in ways that enhance the competitiveness of Jordan’s tourism industry.
For his part, the Chairman of the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association, Mr. Nabih Riyal, stated that cooperation with Egyptian tourism offices opens new avenues for developing joint tourism programmes and increasing regional tourism flows between the two countries. He stressed that integration between the tourism sector and government institutions is a fundamental pillar for translating partnerships into tangible economic outcomes.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of the Jordan Hotels Association, Mr. Hani Al-Dabbas, noted that the delegation’s visit to the Pyramids of Giza, together with its first-hand observation of the private sector’s involvement in managing services and tourism activities associated with archaeological sites, highlighted the importance of moving beyond site management towards maximizing their economic value while preserving their cultural and historical heritage.
He further emphasized that the success of public-private partnerships should be measured by their ability to stimulate investment, improve the quality and standard of services, enhance the visitor experience, extend tourists’ length of stay, increase visitor spending, and create employment opportunities. He also stressed the importance of learning from successful experiences and developing models tailored to the unique characteristics of Jordan’s tourism sites.
During the visit, the delegation attended the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol between the Misr El-Kheir Foundation for Development, the Commercial International Bank Foundation, and the National Alliance for Civil Development Work. Held at the Presidential Palace of Qubba in Cairo, the ceremony aimed to provide medical treatment to one million children across 1,000 Egyptian villages. The event also included an official dinner and a musical performance by Egyptian star Tamer Ashour.
The visit concluded with coordination efforts to arrange an upcoming visit to Jordan by a delegation of Egyptian investors and tourism-sector representatives. The anticipated visit will focus on exploring investment opportunities and joint tourism projects, further strengthening economic and tourism cooperation between the two countries.
