Jordan Hotels Association Strengthens Tourism and Hospitality Cooperation with Syria's Northern Region Tourism Chamber

The Chairman and Board Members of the Jordan Hotels Association welcomed the Chairman and members of the Northern Region Tourism Chamber (Aleppo–Idlib) of the Syrian Arab Republic at the Association’s headquarters, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen tourism and hospitality cooperation and promote the exchange of expertise between the two brotherly countries, Jordan and Syria.

The Syrian delegation was welcomed by the Chairman of the Jordan Hotels Association, Mr. Hussein Hilalat, alongside Board Member Mr. Hassan Madi, Board Member and Acting Director General of the Association Mr. Mohammad Al-Qasem, and the Association’s staff.

The Syrian delegation was headed by the Chairman of the Northern Region Tourism Chamber, Mr. Ahmad Al-Mulla, accompanied by the Chamber’s Vice Chairman, Mr. Mohammad Wajih Hamash, Mr. Abdul Fattah Najjar, a General Assembly member representing the restaurant sector, and Eng. Basel Mawas, Advisor to the Chamber.

Both sides welcomed the visit as a reflection of the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Syrian Arab Republic. They emphasized the importance of establishing effective partnerships between tourism and hospitality institutions to support the development of the tourism sector in both countries and to enhance mutual economic and investment cooperation.

The meeting featured extensive discussions on the current state of the tourism and hospitality sector, as well as the challenges and opportunities it faces. Participants highlighted the importance of exchanging expertise and successful experiences in hotel management, operations, and service quality enhancement, while also sharing best practices adopted within the tourism industry.

The discussions also addressed the importance of developing and qualifying the workforce in the tourism and hospitality sectors, attracting and training skilled professionals, and integrating them into the labour market in line with industry needs. Both parties underscored the pivotal role of human capital as the cornerstone of advancing the hospitality and tourism industries.

In addition, the two sides explored investment opportunities in Jordan and Syria and discussed prospects for cooperation in attracting tourism and hospitality investments, particularly in light of the rich tourism, cultural, and historical assets that both countries possess, enabling them to strengthen their presence on the regional tourism map.

The meeting further addressed hotel classification standards and the importance of adopting modern professional benchmarks that contribute to enhancing the quality of hospitality services and increasing the competitiveness of tourism establishments. The exchange of expertise in quality assurance systems, training, and institutional development was also highlighted.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close communication and coordination in the coming period, paving the way for further collaboration, the exchange of expertise, and the implementation of joint initiatives that will serve the tourism and hospitality sectors in both brotherly countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Syrian delegation expressed its sincere appreciation to the Jordan Hotels Association for its warm hospitality, commending Jordan’s successful experience in developing its tourism and hospitality sector. In turn, the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Hussein Hilalat, reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to supporting Arab cooperation and fostering the exchange of expertise among tourism and hospitality institutions across the region.

To mark the occasion and further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two sides, Mr. Hussein Hilalat presented a commemorative shield to the visiting delegation in recognition of their visit and the shared commitment to future collaboration.
