As part of its pivotal role in supporting and advancing the hotel sector in the Kingdom, and in line with its commitment to monitoring the quality of tourism services, the Jordan Hotels Association participated in the activities of the Tourism Establishments Classification Committee in the Petra region, in cooperation with the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority. This participation took place during field visits conducted from April 19 to April 23, 2026.

The visits covered 25 hotel establishments within the region, with the aim of assessing service standards and the extent of compliance with the approved tourism classification criteria.

The results of the visits led to the classification of 10 hotel establishments within the approved categories (one star, two stars, lodges, and guesthouses), in accordance with the established technical standards.

Additionally, 15 hotel establishments were granted a grace period to rectify their status and complete the required criteria, in preparation for re-evaluation and the issuance of a final classification decision.

The Association emphasized that its participation in these efforts reflects its collaborative role with official entities, aiming to enhance the efficiency of the hotel sector and improve the quality of the tourism product in the Petra region, in line with Jordan’s standing on both the regional and international tourism.
