The Chairman of the Board of the Jordan Hotels Association, Mr. Hussein Hilalat, inaugurated the introductory workshop on the Energy Audit Studies Program for hotels, held on Sunday, 19 April 2026, with the participation of representatives from hotels in Amman, Irbid, the Dead Sea, and Petra.
Hilalat welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the Association’s commitment to continuing the implementation of initiatives and programs that support the hotel sector and enhance its competitiveness and sustainability. He highlighted the importance of the workshop in introducing hotels to the opportunities available under energy efficiency programs, and the direct impact these programs have in reducing operational costs and improving performance efficiency.
He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund, praising its initiatives in supporting various economic sectors, particularly the hotel sector, given their positive impact in enabling hospitality establishments to improve their operations and enhance their operational efficiency.
This workshop comes as part of activating the cooperation agreement previously signed between the Jordan Hotels Association and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund, translating its objectives into practical steps that serve the hotel sector and enhance its sustainability.
For his part, the Executive Director of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund, Dr. Rasmi Hamzeh, reviewed the Fund’s key programs and achievements in supporting various sectors, noting the success of several hotels in benefiting from energy audit programs and the resulting reductions in energy consumption and improvements in operational efficiency.
The workshop aimed to familiarize hotels with the mechanism for joining the program, where the Energy Efficiency Program in the hotel sector was presented. The program aims to support hotels in conducting energy audit studies at 100% coverage, with a ceiling of up to 10,000 Jordanian dinars, in addition to providing financing for implementing energy efficiency measures through partner local banks, with financing reaching up to 350,000 Jordanian dinars.
The workshop also clarified the implementation mechanism, which includes receiving applications from interested hotels, evaluating submissions, and conducting field visits when necessary to verify eligibility, in addition to reviewing the required application documents.
The workshop witnessed active engagement from participants, who expressed strong interest in the program due to its potential to significantly reduce energy costs and improve operational efficiency. It concluded with an emphasis on continued coordination and follow-up on upcoming steps to serve the hotel sector and enhance its sustainability.
