Amman - Jordan
The Vice Chairman of the Jordan Hotels Association, Hani Al-Dabbas, participated in a meeting held today, Thursday, by His Excellency the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Emad Hijazin, with the participation of a select group of tourism sector representatives and relevant stakeholders. The meeting aimed to examine the repercussions of the current regional situation on inbound tourism to Jordan and to discuss a set of practical measures designed to stimulate tourism demand and enhance the sector’s ability to adapt to ongoing challenges.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the launch of a comprehensive program of subsidized tourism packages targeting priority Arab markets. These packages are set to include multi-day itineraries covering hotel accommodation, tourist transportation services, licensed tour guides, and entrance fees to archaeological and tourist sites. The packages will be offered at carefully structured promotional rates aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Jordan’s tourism product and attracting organized tourist groups.
Participants emphasized that this initiative comes within the framework of an integrated vision between the public and private sectors to revitalize inbound tourism and direct efforts toward markets with strong recovery potential. Particular focus will be placed on destinations of cultural and economic significance, foremost among them the city of Petra, thereby supporting local communities linked to tourism activity and enhancing the sector’s sustainability.
The meeting also addressed mechanisms for developing joint marketing campaigns for these packages in the targeted markets, particularly in the Gulf countries, Iraq, Egypt, and the Maghreb countries. This will be achieved through coordinated efforts between official entities, accredited tourism offices, and the hotel sector, in addition to discussing the facilitation of regulatory procedures related to receiving tourist groups and streamlining organized tourism programs.
This meeting comes within the framework of a participatory approach that reflects the awareness of all stakeholders of the importance of the tourism sector as a key driver of the national economy, and the need for joint action to maintain its competitiveness and strengthen its resilience in the face of regional and international challenges, ensuring the continued flow of tourism to the Kingdom in the coming period.
