The Chairman of JHA Mr. Hussein Hilalat, welcomed at the Association’s headquarters His Excellency the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Emad Hijazin, who was accompanied by the General Manager of JTB, Mr. Ramzi Al-Maaytah, along with senior officials from the Ministry. Members of the Association’s Board of Directors were also in attendance, in a formal meeting that underscored the spirit of national responsibility and genuine partnership between the public and private sectors.
Held at a pivotal moment for the tourism industry, the meeting focused on the key challenges facing the hotel sector, including rising operational costs, regulatory frameworks, tourism promotion priorities, and ensuring the sustainability of Jordan’s tourism product amid evolving regional and international dynamics. Discussions were conducted with full transparency and supported by data and performance indicators reflecting current market realities and sector needs.
The session featured a comprehensive and solution-oriented dialogue, resulting in agreement on assigning the relevant entities to follow up on each identified challenge within a defined timeframe. This step aims to transition from assessment to implementation, while reinforcing institutional coordination between the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Jordan Tourism Board, and the Jordan Hotels Association to achieve measurable, on-the-ground results.
For his part, the Minister commended the practical proposals and forward-looking ideas presented by the Association’s Board, noting that they reflect hands-on expertise and an in-depth understanding of the sector’s operational landscape. He stressed that the next phase requires unified efforts, strengthened communication channels, and a proactive approach to transforming challenges into opportunities for growth and sectoral advancement.
Participants emphasized that the hotel sector remains a cornerstone of the national economy. Supporting and empowering it has a direct impact on employment levels, job creation, investment momentum, and the enhancement of Jordan’s image as a safe, diverse, and competitive tourism destination, further solidifying the Kingdom’s standing on the regional and international tourism map.
